from Headphones N' Stuff :

They not only make me think of a combination of the Stax SR007 and SR009 like the ES1a did, but a combination that also technically outperforms both the aforementioned headphones.

The ES-2a is an exceptional headphone. It’s one of the most emotionally engaging and sonically satisfying headphones I’ve heard, period!

Impressions by lostrockets:

It successfully addresses the desire for a more robust and impactful low end, delivering it with the speed, texture, and control that only top-tier electrostats can achieve.

There isn’t anything available currently brand new that performs at this level until you get to above $5000.

In summary, if you're looking in the $2K+ range and want something that truly feels worth your money, the ES2a deserves your attention.

I can hear the fine texturing of instruments and notes. It doesn't shove this detail down your throat though like something the 009 series can do.

It is the closest thing to an Omega that I have heard to date.

I've very, very impressed.  Very neutral sound signature, a bit laid back with a large and expansive soundstage

Impressions by mulveling:

Gobs of detail with seemingly infinite finesse and refinement. Not even a hint of listening fatigue, even at high SPLs played for a while.

Impressions by Chefguru:

It’s my favorite in-production headphone. While not as technical as the x9000 it is far more enjoyable since it’s not quite as recessed and compressed sounding.

Impressions by number1sixerfan:

I feel like it succeeds in taking elements from the Omega, 007 and 009 each and doing so in a very cohesive manner, which the original model did not (at least for me).

very fast and detailed, great rounded body to the overall sound. I feel the sound is less forward or in your face… just relaxed / smooth.

I’ve heard most modern production stats and I think I can’t think of any in production stat I’d take over these

Conclusion of this ramble is I can see them staying in heavy rotation for a while and quite possibly the top electrostatic headphone in production.

Wow, the tuning on the ES-2A is absolutely amazing. Instant impression, reminds me first time going from a 007 to a 009s.

Impressions by Beyond The Blackwall:

Without question, ES2A sounds better ( than X9000 ) with metal as it has deeper bass, more of it and better impact.
